According to a new report released by the AARP, the answer is yes. Many of us want more on-the-job flexibility to care for our loved ones. However, the realities of the needs of an aging population are clashing with the reality that most of us hold down a job outside the home, but have too-little workplace flexibility. That’s a family-unfriendly combination that means that too often, aging parents cannot rely on their adult children to be there for them. It’s good to see that the AARP fighting for our right to care, pointing to unpaid family leave, family leave insurance, and earned sick time as key ways to help.
